Kolkata, May 6 (IBNS): BJP candidate from Barrackpore Arjun Singh on Monday allegedly engaged himself in a scuffle with the police during the polling in his constituency from the outskirts of Kolkata.

The incident reportedly occurred at a booth in Mohanpur area.

The incident occurred on a day when India is voting in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha polls.

Singh was reportedly injured during the scuffle. He alleged that BJP polling agents were not allowed inside the booths, leading to a clash of sort.

Singh alleged that Trinamool Congress workers attacked him.

Singh, who switched over to the BJP from the TMC, is contesting the poll against Trinamool Congress contestant Dinesh Trivedi.

Similar incidents of violence were reported during the earlier four phases of the Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal.
