West Bengal: Another BJP activist found hanging from tree in Birbhum

Kolkata, Oct 22 (IBNS): In a rerun of Purulia's Supurdih incident, another block-level BJP activist was found hanging from a tree at Dnarka village under Labpur Police Station limits in West Bengal's Birbhum district on Sunday midnight, reports said.

According to reports, 33-year-old active worker of BJP, Tapas Bagdi, went untraceable since Sunday late afternoon and hanging body of the man was found latter at night in a forest near his village.

Claiming that the BJP activist was abducted, killed and later hanged in the tree, state BJP leadership accused ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of murdering their party member.

"Like previous incidents, another active worker of our party, Tapas Bagdi, was murdered and hanged in tree by the TMC," BJP state general secretary Sayantan Basu told IBNS.

"We demand a proper investigation into the death of our party member and we will stage agitation to protest ruling party's policy of killing oppositions' voice," Basu added.

Denying all allegations against his party, Birbhum district president of TMC, Anubrata Mondal, said, "None from the TMC was involved in the case as this is an incident of suicide."

"The BJP worker was not murdered, he committed suicide due to family issues," Anubrata Mondal said.

Local police, however, have started investigation into the 'unnatural' death of the BJP activist.

"We have initiated a probe into the incident," a senior official of Birbhum district police told IBNS.

Earlier in May, two BJP activists were found hanging from a tree and a high-tension pillar in Purulia's Supurdih and Balarampur areas respectively.
