WB college clash: TMC suspends MLA Dipak Halder

Kolkata, Sept 16 (IBNS): The Trinamool Congress (TMC)'s disciplinary committee on Wednesday suspended the MLA of Diamond Harbour assembly constituency Dipak Kumar Halder who was arrested on Monday for allegedly taking part in a clash between two groups of students in Diamond Harbour area in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district.
The secretary general of TMC Partha Chatterjee told IBNS: "The disciplinary committee of TMC has decided to suspend Dipak Halder from the party."

Urging the suspension of Dipak Halder from his MLA post, the party has also sent a letter to the speaker of West Bengal legislative assembly.

However, suspended TMC MLA Dipak Halder told IBNS, "I did not receive any official suspension letter from the party yet. Mamata Banerjee is my leader. I am ready to accept any decision of my party. But it would have been better if leaders sought my version before taking this decision."

"Though I am no one in my party from today, but I will work for TMC only in future," he added.

On Monday, two groups of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) engaged in a clash with each other at Fakir Chand College in Diamond Harbour and local MLA Dipak Halder went to the spot and allegedly led one group during the clash. He also allegedly threatened the police officers.

After getting direction from WB chief minister Mamata Banerjee, police arrested Dipak Haldar and charged him under bailable sections. He was produced in the Diamond Harbour court on Tuesday and granted bail.
