WB BJP Prez attacks Amartya Sen, raises questions on his contributions to India

Kolkata, Feb 11 (IBNS): Triggering a controversy, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s West Bengal president Dilip Ghosh on Saturday attacked Nobel Laureate and renowned economist Amartya Sen and questioned his contributions towards the country.

Speaking at a gathering, Ghosh said: "There is a Bengali fellow who has won the Nobel Prize and we are all proud of him. We don't know what he has done for the nation. Even I have doubts if he himself know what he has done."

"He is hurt as he was removed as the Chancellor of Nalanda University. These people are spineless and they can be purchased or sold,” Ghosh added.

Sen has been a critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi since long.

He had withdrew his candidature for a second term as Nalanda University’s Chancellor in 2015, media reports said.
