Delhi/UNI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath were engaged in a war of words on Twitter after the former alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was "blatantly lying" in Parliament on Monday regarding the exodus of migrant workers from the national capital following 2020 nationwide anti-COVID lockdown.

In the Lok Sabha during his motion of thanks to the President's address, Modi blamed Delhi government for instilling fear among the migrant workers residing across Delhi through announcements that intensified the scale of migration to their villages and hometowns.

"They told them the danger is immense, go to your village, go home. Then they gave them buses, abandoned them halfway and plunged them into multiple problems," he said.

Responding to the statement, Kejriwal said that Modi's allegation against the Delhi government for coercing the migrant workers to leave the capital, was a "blatant lie", adding that it did not suit the PM to "do politics over the sufferings of the people".

He also said that the PM is trying to pin the blame of Covid management failures on opposition-ruled states.

"The country hopes that the Prime Minister will be sensitive to those who have suffered the pain of the Corona period, those who have lost their loved ones. It does not suit the Prime Minister to do politics on the sufferings of the people," Kejriwal tweeted while sharing the video of Modi's statement.

Delhi CM's tweet triggered a response from UP CM Yogi Adityanath, he tweeted "Listen Kejriwal, you forced the workers of UP to leave Delhi when the entire humanity was groaning due to the pain of Corona.

"Your government did an undemocratic and inhuman act like leaving even small children and women helpless on the UP border in the middle of the night.  Call you a traitor of humanity or..."

Kejriwal responded to Yogi's tweet in a similar tone "Listen Yogi, I have never seen such a cruel administrator.

"When the dead bodies of the people of UP were flowing in Ganga, you were busy spending crores of advertisements in TIME magazine on your false applause."
