Voting ends on 3 Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand

Ranchi, Apr 29 (UNI) Voting today came to an end on three Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand including Chatra, Lohardaga (ST) and Palamu (SC) which went to polls in the 4th phase of elections in the country during which an average voter turn out of more than 60 per cent was recorded.

Officials at the office of state's chief electoral officer said that barring stray incidents EVMs not

working and delay in the start of voting polls in Jharkhand by and large have remained peaceful.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey said that polling has concluded peacefully in these three seats, however, the official polling percentage would be available later as all the people who have lined up at the booths would be allowed to vote.

At 1500hrs the average voter turn out on these seats was recorded at 56.37 per cent whereas constituency wise the voter turn out at Chatra has been recorded at 56.17 per cent, Lohardaga 56.33

per cent and Palamu 56.55 per cent.

In the elections of 2014 the voter turns out at Chatra was 54.32 per cent, Lohardaga 58.21 per cent and Palamu 59.38 per cent.

Prominent candidates whose fate has been locked in the EVMs included Sunil Singh of the BJP, Manoj Yadav of the Congress and Subhash Yadav of the RJD who were contesting in Chatra, Sudarshan Bhagat of BJP and Sukhdeo Bhagat of Congress in Lohardaga and VD Ram of the BJP and Ghuran Ram of the RJD in Palamu.
