Veterinary doctor gang-rape case: Telangana police submits report to NHRC

Hyderabad/IBNS: The police on Tuesday submitted a report to the National Human Rights Commission on the gruesome-murder and rape of young veterinarian Disha which provoked country-wide outrage.

The police report contains abduction, rape and burning of the body after the young veterinarian's murder by the four accused.

Meanwhile,the Special Investigation Team set up by the Telangana government to probe the "encounter" at Chattanpally began its investigation today. The members of the team headed by Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwat will visit the site of the exchange of fire in which the four accused in the Disha case were gunned down.

The High Court has directed that the bodies of the four accused should be preserved till Friday next (December 13 ) ensuring that the bodies are not decomposed.

The NHRC team probing the "encounter' had collected information from the Cyberabad police who were present at the site when the incident took place. The members also questioned the officials of the revenue department who carried out the inquest of the four accused killed in the alleged encounter on December 6 at Chattanpally.

The NHRC team members also recorded the statement of the father and sister of victim.

The NHRC team after examining the encounter site, questioned the two police personnel who were injured during the encounter. Currently they are undergoing treatment in a city hospital.

Notably, NHRC after taking suo motu congnisance of the encounter, sent the seven-member NHRC team to probe the incident.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has also agreed to hear, on Wednesday, a petition seeking an independent probe in the encounter in which all the four accused were shot dead.
