Uttarakhand: Passenger bus falls into gorge, 25 dead

A bus with over 40 passengers onboard dropped in a gorge in Uttarakhand on Wednesday which left at least 25 people dead, media reports said.

The mishap occurred when the vehicle fell into a 500-meter gorge on the Rikhnikhal-Birokhal road in Pauri Garhwal district on Tuesday.

Twenty people have been recovered so far.

Uttarakhand Police also tweeted to confirm the casualty in the incident.

PM Narendra Modi tweeted: "The bus accident in Pauri, Uttarakhand is heart-rending. In this tragic hour my thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope those who have been injured recover at the earliest. Rescue operations are underway. All possible assistance will be provided to those affected."
