Uttarakhand: Death toll in bus accident touches 25

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Home department on Sunday night said the toll in the bus accident that took place near Damta on Yamunotri Highway in Uttarkashi of Uttarakhand, has reached 25.

According to Additional Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Home Department, Rajesh Rajoura, he received information from the Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department of Uttarakhand, confirming the death of 25 people. At the same time, three people were seriously injured in the accident, while search was on for two persons.

Besides, 28 pilgrims from Panna district, a driver and a helper were on board the bus. The injured have been taken to the health center in Damta, which is about three km from the accident site. Senior doctors who came here from Barkot, were treating the injured.

Madhya Pradesh Home Department has also released the list of all 28 passengers.

He said rescue work was in progress by Uttarakhand Police, Home Guard and Superintendent of Police and Collector.

The Madhya Pradesh government was in constant touch with Radha Raturi, Additional Chief Secretary, Uttarakhand Home Department, Collector Uttarkashi Abhishek Rohilla and Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi, said Rajoura.

He added that rescue work and treatment of the injured was being done in coordination with the officials.
