Uttarakhand: 19 killed in bus accident

Chamoli, May 10 (IBNS): At least 19 people were killed when the bus in which they were traveling fell into a deep gorge in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on Saturday, reports said.

Several others were injured in the mishap.

“Two of the injured were sent to Dehradun [for treatment] from Gopeshwar via chopper. The remaining two are receiving treatment at the District hospital, Gopeshwar,”   Chamoli District Magistrate S.A. Murugesan told The Hindu.

“The bus was a regular one that travels from Haridwar to Ghat. The bus fell almost 120 metre downhill when it was nearing Ghat,” Murugesan said.
