A case has been lodged against a person for making objectionable comments of the Hindu gods on a social media platform in Bairia area of Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said on Saturday.

Police sources said that Santosh Singh, a resident of Kotwa village, and three others filed a complaint against Aman Kumar Verma alias Chandrshekhar, a resident of Baijnath Chhapra village, on Friday evening.

Police sources said that the complainant alleged that on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami Aman made an objectionable post regarding Lord Ram and Lord Krishna on Facebook.

"The complainants alleged that the post hurt their religious sentiments," they said.

Police sources said that on the basis of the complaint a case was lodged against Aman Verma at Bairia police station under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the IT Act late on Friday evening.

"Efforts are being made to arrest the accused," they said.
