Uttar Pradesh: Six held for kidnapping, killing youth for ransom

Saharanpur, Nov 1 (UNI) Six people have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a youth for ransom in the Gangoh area here of this district, police said on Friday.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar here said Sangtheda resident Pitambar's son Avneesh Kumar aka Sonu (22) had been called to Ghateda village in the Rampur Maniharan area by one of his acquaintances by the name Dixit on October 26.

Dixit, along with his five other aides kidnapped Avneesh. Later, Pitambar eventually received a call through Sonu's mobile phone on the evening of October 28, demanding Rs 20 lakh in cash as ransom.

When the kidnappers did not get the ransom money, they murdered Avneesh and disposed of his body in a sugarcane field.

The SSP said that police have arrested Dixit and his five aides--Arun Kumar, Neetu, Rahul, Amreesh Dhiman and Sachin. These miscreants had been released from jail, sometime back.

The arrested miscreants have numerous cases registered against them under serious charges. All of them have been sent to jail.
