Uttar Pradesh: Rs 60 lakh drug seized, five arrested in Barabanki

Barabanki, Apr 15 (UNI) Around Rs 60 lakh worth 450 grams of fine morphine was seized and five drug peddlers including two women arrested in the Jaitpur and Kotwali city area by the district police here in the past 24 hours, police spokesperson said on Monday.

The spokesperson said that upon receiving information, the Jaitpur police encircled the Chandauli canal puliya and arrested two-wheeler-borne Saleem and Fatima, residents of Lucknow. About 300 grams of morphine was seized from their possession.

Apart from this, three other peddlers--Sufiyan, Alia Kamini and Sabeena Khatun, residents of Kanpur were arrested near the Palhari chauraha by the Kotwali city police on Sunday evening.

Around 150 grams of morphine  was seized from their possession.

All the arrested have been sent to jail.
