Uttar Pradesh: One killed, two injured as SUV rams into shop in UP

Jaunpur/UNI:  One person was killed while two others sustained critical injuries when a speeding SUV rammed into a tea shop they were sitting in, in the Sarpathan area of this Uttar Pradesh district, police sources said on Wednesday.

According to sources here, several people were sitting and sipping tea in the tea shop of Sant Kumar Gupta, a resident of Sari Jahangir Patti village in the Sarpathan area, at around 2100 hrs on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, a speeding SUV coming from Sultanpur lost control and entered the tea shop, critically injuring three people.

The injured were rushed to the hospital, where Rajendra Kumar (35), was declared brought dead.

Ram Singar and Lutur are currently undergoing treatment at a district hospital.

Following the accident, the driver of the car fled from the spot after deserting the vehicle and police are on the lookout for him.
