Muzaffarnagar, Jan 16 (IBNS): A video of a man being beaten up by a group of men in Muzaffarnagar in west Uttar Pradesh has triggered a tension in this part of the state, media reports said.

The incident took place on Saturday.

Vipin Kumar was returning from a shop when he was attacked by a mob and was repeatedly beaten with stick.

He was taken to hospital.

Kumar was even forced to enchant names of gods and goddesses.

The police has registered a case in connection with the matter.

According to media reports, the attack seems to be a reaction to an incident that occurred in the area recently when few Dalit men visited the homes of people belonging to their community and tore the pictures of gods and goddesses and replaced them with picture of Dalit icon Bhimrao Ambedkar.
