Urn with former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ashes arrives in Guwahati

Guwahati, Aug 22 (IBNS): The urn containing the ashes of late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee arrived at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport in Guwahati on Wednesday.

BJP’s Assam unit president Ranjit Kumar Dass received the urn with former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ashes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP’s national president Amit Shah in New Delhi and he handed over it to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at Guwahati airport.

Over thousand of BJP workers, supporters had gathered at the airport and offered floral tributes to the former PM.

An ashes procession was carried out from the airport till Assam BJP office at Hengerabari, where people thronged in large number to pay their tributes.

The ashes will be immersed in Brahmaputra river and Barak river tomorrow.
