Upset over Chirag's clout senior LJP leader quits party

Patna, Sept 16 (IBNS) Miffed with Ram Vilas Paswan's son Chirag's growing clout in the party, an important leader of the Lok Janshakti Party has quit all party posts, reports said.

Rama Singh, the LJP lawmaker from Vaishali, says he is upset because the party has not involved him in the key process of discussing division of seats for the Bihar elections with the BJP.

Singh had earned the reputation of a giant killer last year when he defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal's senior leader  Raghuvansh Prasad Singh in the national election.

Rama Singh has reportedly been nursing grouses over Chirag Pawan's  elevation as de facto chief of the LJP. Chirag Paswan, has reportedly rejected the lawmaker's request for a ticket for his wife to contest the Bihar elections.

Rama Singh, a known loyalist of Ramvilas Paswan,  is also said to be upset over  his  diminished importance in the organisation since Chirag Paswan  took charge.

In the last Assembly elections in 2010, the LJP failed to win a single seat in Bihar. But in last year's Lok Sabha polls, the party put up a good show, winning six of the seven Lok Sabha seats it contested as a BJP ally.

Media reports said Rama Singh is  now  contemplating joining the rival camp led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for a ticket for his wife.
