UP: Two sisters gangraped, hanged to death

Badaun, May 29 (IBNS) Two Dalit minor sisters were allegedly gangraped and then hanged from a tree at Katra village in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, said reports on Thursday.

The cousin sisters, aged 14 and 15 respectively, were reportedly missing since Tuesday night.

The victims' family alleged that the police refused to register a a First Information Report (FIR) into the incident.

Later, coming under pressure from angry locals who took to the streets demanding action against the culprits, the police registered an FIR against seven people, including constables of Ushait police station - Sarvesh Yadav and Rakshapal Yadav.

The cops were also suspended.

The police said one of the accused Pappu Yadav has already been arrested, while four other accused, including one Brijesh and one Awadhesh, are yet to be nabbed. 

 
Meanwhile, the post-mortem examination reports of the girls are awaited.
