UP polls: 61 pct voters' turnout recorded in fourth phase

Raebareli, Feb 23 (IBNS): About 61 percent of voters exercised their franchise till 5 pm on Thursday in the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh elections, media reports said.

Voting was held in 53 Assembly constituencies spread over 12 districts.

Among the places where polling was held were Raebareli, the traditional stronghold of the Nehru-Gandhi family, Allahabad and the backward region of Bundelkhand .

The fate of 680 candidates have been sealed on Thursday.

The maximum number of 26 candidates were in fray in Allahabad North, while only six candidates contested from Khaga (Fatehpur), Manjhanpur (Kaushambi) and Kunda (Pratapgarh).
