Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat meets Mekong Ganga Dhamma Yatra delegation visiting India from Thailand
Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, on Saturday met Thai delegation that is visiting India as a part of the Fourth Mekong Ganga Dhamma Yatra at his residence in New Delhi.
The delegates, comprising of Buddhist scholars, former civil servants and eminent citizens, discussed a wide range of issues with the Minister hinging on broad aspects of India-Thailand relations wherein Buddha Dhamma forms the central pillar, reported ANI.
Supachai Verapuchong, head of the Bodhi Gaya Vijjalaya 980 Institute (BGVI), led the Thai delegation to India.
The delegation expressed their desire of spreading the message of the dhamma globally.
The delegation briefed the Minister on the ‘Declaration of Dhamma Century’ announced by them at Bodh Gaya on December 5, and their intention of preserving the declaration in a time capsule to be placed at sacred places in India and Thailand, reported ANI.
After visiting India on December 2, the delegation reached Nava Nalanda Mahavihara (Nalanda), Bodh Gaya, the National Museum in New Delhi and will be enroute to Gujarat to visit Vadnagar and pay their obeisance to the Buddha’s relics in Devni Mori.
