Union Home Secretary reviews progress in talks with ULFA

New Delhi, Nov 24 (IBNS) A meeting involving the representatives of Government of Assam, and ULFA was held here on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi to review the progress made in talks with ULFA.

The ULFA delegation was led by Arabinda Rajkhowa, Chairman, ULFA.

The Government Representatives included P.C. Haldar, Representative for Peace Talks,  V.K. Pipersenia, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Assam, Pallab Bhattacharya, Addl. DGP, Assam, A.K. Cassyap, Addl. DGP, Border Assam,  L.S. Changsan, Commissioner & Secretary Home, Govt. of Assam.

Ashok Prasad, Secretary (IS) MHA, Satyendra Garg, Joint Secretary, North East, MHA were also present.

Appreciating the efforts made by the Government for repatriation of Anup Chetia from Bangladesh to India, ULFA leaders requested to associate him in the ongoing peace process.

The Union Home Secretary suggested to the Government of India's Representative to examine the request of ULFA leaders.

Discussions were cordial and it was agreed to meet again as soon as mutually convenient to move the peace process forward.
