The world body posted on X: "Just inscribed on the @UNESCO#WorldHeritage List: Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysalas, #India . Congratulations!"

PM Narendra Modi summed up the excitement of UNESCO's announcement for the country by posting on X: "More pride for India!"

"The magnificent Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysalas have been inscribed on the @UNESCO World Heritage List. The timeless beauty and intricate details of the Hoysala temples are a testament to India's rich cultural heritage and the exceptional craftsmanship of our ancestors," he said.

Earlier, UNESCO had added Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore founded cultural and education hub of West Bengal Santiniketan to the World Heritage Site list.

Hoysala architecture is the building style in Hindu temple architecture developed under the rule of the Hoysala Empire between the 11th and 14th centuries, in the region known today as Karnataka, a state of India.
