Two ULFA(I) cadres apprehended by Assam Rifles

Guwahati, Jan 3 (IBNS): Assam Rifles apprehended two ULFA(I) cadres from Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district on Monday, officials said on Tuesday.

Assam Rifles top official Col Chirenjit Konwer said that the Changlang Bn of Assam Rifles under the aegis of DAO division conducted a successful operation in at Tirap Colliery of Ledo town on Tuesday evening.

"The operation resulted in successful apprehension of two ULFA (I) cadres, identified as Manav Moran and Raktem Moran, both residents of village Tatani Pathai," Col Konwer said.

Manav Moran has a history with ULFA (I) and was arrested in the past for extortion activities in 2011.

"The security forces has been carrying out aggressive operations in the South ALP and this apprehension has struck a blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the area," the top Assam Rifles official said.
