Two tribal girls die in explosion in Manipur’s Noney district

Guwahati, Feb 2 (IBNS): Two tribal girls of a same family died in a bomb explosion incident in Manipur’s Noney district on Friday while they were going to work in the jhum field.

According to reports, a bomb exploded at the jungle of upper Subunglong Leishok village under Khoupum police station in Manipur's Noney district.

In the explosion, the elder sister died at the spot and younger sister succumbed to her injuries while being evacuated to a hospital.

Her mother also got injured.

The victims were identified as 17-year-old Gaikhuanliu Kamei aged and 15-year-old Akhiuna Kamei of Subunglong Leishok Part-1 Village under Khoupum police station of Noney district.

A Suo Moto case under FIR No.1(02)2019 was registered at Khoupum police station under section 302/307 of IPC & 3 Explosive Substances' Act.

The dead bodies have been brought to Imphal for post mortem and victim’s mother for medical treatment.
