Guwahati, Aug 29 (IBNS) Two dreaded Bodo militants were gunned down in a joint operation by the Army and Assam Rifles in Assam's Chirang District last night, reports said.

The two militants, identified as Gwndai and Jwanthi, were said to be top leaders of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) or NDFB (S), an underground organisation.

The militants were allegedly responsible for the massacre of tribals on December 23 last year. They also allegedly killed a class 10 student, who the  organisation had suspected of being an informer.

An AK-47, an M-16 rifle and a pistol, along with large amounts ammunition were recovered from them.
