Guwahati, Nov 12 (IBNS) : Police arrested two gun runners from a hotel in Guwahati on Saturday.

Guwahati City Police Commissioner Hiren Nath said that following a tip-off police had launched operation at a city based hotel and arrested two gun runners hailed from Nagaland and recovered one point 22mm pistol with ammunition and two mobile handsets in possession  from them.

The nabbed gun traffickers were identied as Zamathan and Arlia.

“The gun traffickers had tried to sell the illegal arms to a car lifter gang in Guwahatai,” the top police official said.

Assam turned a transit route of illegal arms trade to the other parts of the country.

In past two years police had seized over 1000 illegal arms from various parts of the state.
