Srinagar, May 23 (UNI) Two civilians were injured on Thursday in a grenade attack by suspected militants in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.

Suspected militants hurled a grenade at a joint part of CRPF and police deployed near Police Station Awantipora this evening.

However, the grenade missed the target and exploded at a distance from the patrolling party, resulting in minor injuries to two civilians. ''The injured were immediately rushed to a hospital,'' the sources said.

The militants managed to escape due to chaos created due to the explosion.

“Additional security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers,” they said.
