Nashik/UNI: At least twenty passengers were killed while more than 30 injured after a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus and an autorickshaw fell into a well after colliding with each other at Meshi village on Malegaon-Deola road in Nashik on Tuesday.

The MSRTC bus of Kalvan depot, while on the way to Kalvan from Dhule, collided head-on with the autorickshaw coming from the opposite side of the Malegaon-Deola road at Meshi village.

After the crash, both the vehicles rolled over and fell into a nearby well, in which nine passengers were killed on the spot and over dozen injured, police said.

After receiving the information, a team of Deola police reached the spot and started the rescue operation with the help of local villagers.

During the rescue operation, the teams fished out 11 more bodies from the well.

More than 30 passengers were injured and been admitted to Deola rural hospital and Malegaon hospital, police said.

Five ambulances of the district hospital, along with surgeons, have been rushed to the spot from Nashik, sources said.

Details about the passengers are still unavailable.

MLA Dr Rahul Ahire, district collector and top MSRTC officers were at the spot.

The rescue teams have recovered both the MSRTC bus and autorickshaw from the well, sources added.
