Trinamool Congress on Sunday announced former Indian cricketer and 2007 World T20 champion Yusuf Pathan will be its candidate from Baharampur constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Currently, the seat is represented by Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

Pathan and his brother Irfan played for India for several years.

Pathan was part of the Indian team which won the 2007 T20 World Cup under MS Dhoni's leadership.

Mahua Moitra, who was expelled from the Lok Sabha in a bribe-for-question scam, will be contesting from  Krishnanagar.

She was elected from the same seat in 2019.

Nusrat Jahan dropped

Basirjhat MP and Tollywood actress Nusrat Jahan was dropped from the list amid Sandeshkhali row.

Sandeshkhali falls under her constituency.

The TMC named its canddiates for the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal during a rally in Kolkata on Sunday.
