Mirzapur, Dec 11 (IBNS): Eight people have been arrested for harassing a group of French tourists who were on their visit to a waterfall in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday evening, media reports said.

A group of six French tourists were travelling along with their Indian friends when a few men passed lewd comments, which resulted in a fight.

The men left only to return in a large group and both the groups got engaged in another round of fight.

One tourist was injured, according to reports.

Senior police officer Ashish Tiwari told NDTV: "A boy called Vivek gathered some more boys and they assaulted the group. One of the men sustained head injuries. In the FIR, there is no mention that the foreign tourists were assaulted."

"We have a video of one of the foreign tourists who says they were not hit but got scratches when they tried to stop the attackers," he added.

In a similar incident in late October, a Swiss couple, Quentin Jeremy Clerc and Marie Droz, were attacked when a group of young men wanted to take selfies with the woman forcibly in Fatehpur Sikri of Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

The victims were chased away by a few men and later were attacked with stones.
