Top NDFB (S) militant nabbed along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border

Guwahati, Mar 1 (IBNS): Security forces on Wednesday conducted a massive operation against the Bodo militant group NDFB (S) along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh bordering area and apprehended a top leader, officials said.

Following the intelligence input, Assam police and army jointly launched operation in the bordering area of Assam’s Sonitpur district about presence of a militant group at the area.

A top police official said that, when troops reached the remote jungle area, the militants started fire and bullets were exchanged lasting for half an hour.

Security forces managed to nab a top NDFB (S) leader, but other militants of the group fled taking the advantage of thick jungle.

The nabbed militant was identified as Badaisa Basumutary and security personnel recovered a pistol, several rounds live ammunition and other warlike stores in possession from him.

The outfit group is active in Northern Assam and BTAD area.
