Kolkata/IBNS: Consolidating its position in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has swept the violence-marred Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Elections 2021, which was held last Sunday.

According to the latest trends, the TMC is winning or leading in 133 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 4, Left in 2, Congress in 2 and Independents in 2.

The ruling TMC is set to keep its hold in all 16 Boroughs in the city.

Flashing victory signs outside her residence while leaving for her office, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, said, "The election was held as a festival of democracy. It’s a victory for democracy.”

“We will more submissively and humbly work for people who have shown more support to us," added a calm and poised Banerjee.

Outgoing Kolkata Mayor and TMC veteran, Firhad Hakim, has already met his party supremo Banerjee, who will be picking the next KMC head.

The TMC workers have already started celebrations in various parts of Kolkata as well as outside the residence of Banerjee.

Reacting to the victory, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee tweeted, "People of Kolkata have once again proven that politics of HATE & VIOLENCE have NO PLACE in BENGAL!

"I thank everyone for blessing us with such a huge mandate. We are truly humbled and shall always remain committed in our goals towards YOUR BETTERMENT! Thank you Kolkata."
