TMC retains West Bengal bypoll seat

New Delhi, Apr 13 (IBNS): Trinamool Congress (TMC) retained its seat in the Kanthi South of East Midnapore district in West Bengal bye-election as results of the bypoll were announced on Thursday.

TMC received 95,369 votes of the 17,062 votes polled.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rose to second position polling 52,843 votes, according to reports.

On Thursday, results of bypolls in seven states were declared.

BJP won the bypolls in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Assam while Congress won the Karnataka seats.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) got a received a big blow when its candidate lost to the BJP in Delhi's Rajouri Garden constituency by a huge margin, according to media reports.
