Kolkata/IBNS: Trinamool Congress MP Shatabdi Roy, who had been in news after rumours of her possible switch to Bharatiya Janata Party gained momentum two days ago, was appointed  the vice president of the Bengal unit of the party on Sunday.

On Friday, after a meeting with Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of Mamata Banerjee, Roy had said she cancelled her Delhi trip to be with the party and all her anguish had been placated after talks with the Diamond Harbour MP. After the appointment, Roy said she would work harder to ensure BJP's defeat in West Bengal 2021 elections.

Roy on Thursday alleged in her fans' club Facebook page that she was not kept in the loop about the Trinamool's political activities in her own constituency, Birbhum.

After a brief talk with Trinamool's new crisis manager parliamentarian Saugata Roy and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's MP nephew Abhishek Banerjee, Roy, in the presence of party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh, said, "I have communicated my grievances to the top brass. I had a talk with party leader Abhishek Banerjee. I am still in the Trinamool and not going to any other party."

Reportedly, Trinamool had deployed all resources to stop Roy from joining the BJP.

Today she told the media that the top leadership does resolve the problems if the matter is taken up with them.

She told the media that she was deeply anguished for not being invited to party events in her constituency.

Reacting to Roy's sudden you U-turn, BJP said the development only displayed how fragile the TMC had become and she had not said once that she will not go in future.

Currently, the ruling TMC in West Bengal is is battling an aggressive poaching campaign by the BJP, having lost as many as seven legislators, one MP and dozens of leaders to the saffron party.
