Guwahati/IBNS: Security forces nabbed three NSCN-IM militants with arms in Assam’s Charaideo district along Assam-Nagaland border on Thursday.

In a joint operation, police and troopers of the Assam Rifles had nabbed the NSCN-IM militants from Balijan Tea Estate in Charaideo district.

The nabbed militants were identified as Tinglu Konyak (25), Nokyeng Konyak (25) and Yangnu Konyak (24) and the trio hail from Lakhun Basti in Mon district of Nagaland.

Security personnel had recovered three pistols, live ammunition from the possession of the militants and they are suspected to have been involved in inter-state arms smuggling.

Meanwhile police have registered a case against the militants under section 25 (1A) and section 35 of the Arms Act at the Sonari police station.

“We suspect that they were involved in inter-state arms smuggling. Interrogation is underway,” Charaideo district SP Sudhakar Singh said.
