Three NDFB(S) militants apprehended in Assam

Guwahati, Feb 4 (IBNS) : Three militants belonging to NDFB(S) were apprehended by security forces in Assam's Chirang district on Wednesday, officials said.

The Army Red Horn division and the Assam police had jointly launched an operation at Manas reserve forest area in the BTAD district and nabbed the militants.

Defence spokesman based in Guwahati said that the apprehended includes Ringsar Basumutary who is an active terrorist of the outfit and was recruited in 2010.

Ringsar was also involved in kidnapping a Muslim businessman in 2013 and extortion activities.

Security forces recovered one 7.65mm pistol, two hand grenades, several rounds ammunition in possession from him.

NDFB(S) was involved in the recent massacre in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts which left more than 80 innocent tribal people dead.
