There is no safe-seat for Mamata Banerjee in Bengal: Dilip Ghosh

Kolkata: West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party chief Dilip Ghosh on Friday targeted state CM Mamata Banerjee over selecting Nandigram seat to contest Assembly polls and said there is no 'safe seat' for her in the state.

He said Mamata Banerjee is facing evident defeat in the upcoming polls.

"Facing evident defeat, Mamata makes her historic 'Long-Jump' from Bhawanipore to Nadigram! You can run, but you cannot hide! Forget Nadigram, there is no safe-seat for Mamata anywhere in Bengal !" Ghosh tweeted.

" After looting and tormenting 'Maa, Mati, Manus' for all these 10 years, there is no safe-seat for Mamata in Paschim Banga," he said.

West Bengal's ruling party Trinamool Congress Friday released the list of candidates for 291 of total 294 seats, which will witness the high-octane assembly polls in eight phases from Mar 27 to Apr 29.

The three seats from Darjeeling have been left for ally Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM).

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee informed she will only be fighting only from the Nandigram constituency, while her outgoing seat, Bhabanipore, will be fought by veteran leader Sovandeb Chattopadhyay.

Nandigram is the bastion of Banerjee's former lieutenant and Trinamool-turned Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari.

Like in every election, the Trinamool's candidate list consists of names of various celebrities.

Filmmaker Raj Chakraborty will contest from Barrackpore; actors Sayantika Banerjee from Bankura, Lovely Maitra from Sonarpur Dakshin, Kanchan Mullick from Uttarpara, Koushani Mukherjee from Krishnanagar Uttar, Soham Chakraborty from Chandipur, Saayoni Ghosh from Asansol Dakshin; singer Aditi Munshi from Rajarhat-Gopalpur.

Indian cricketer-turned politician Manoj Tiwari will fight from Shibpur.

Mamata Banerjee said she will file her nominations on Mar 10 at Haldia.

"I seek blessings from people like the last two times. Trinamool Congress can only take Bengal forward and make it number one in the country," she said.

"This is a smiley election. We all will smile on May 2 (result date)," the Trinamool supremo added.
