Telangana police gun down extremists on Thursday morning

Hyderabad, Dec 14 (IBNS): Eight extremists were  killed in an exchange of fire with police in Bhadradri area of Kothagudem district of Telangana, according to media reports on Thursday.

According to reports, the extremists belonged to the Chandra Pulla Reddy (Bata) faction of the CPI-ML.

The gun battle took place early on Thursday.

The state police were on a combing operation in the area when the extremists fired on them. The police returned the fire in self defence, media reported,

Some of the extremists, a few reportedly wounded, fled the spot. Police recovered arms and ammunition from the spot.

Search operation in the area has been stepped up with the help of additional forces, reports said.
