Telangana Assembly polls: Voting begins amid tight security

Polling commenced at 0700 hours on Thursday across all 35,655 polling stations in Telangana, marking the beginning of the electoral process to choose representatives for the 119-member Telangana Legislative Assembly.

Amid stringent security measures, more than 3.26 crore voters, comprising over 1.62 crores male voters, more than 1.63 crores female voters, and 2,676 transgenders, are expected to exercise their voting rights.

This election sees a fierce competition among 2,290 candidates vying for seats in the 119-member Telangana Legislative Assembly.

The polling is scheduled to conclude at 1700 hours in 106 constituencies, while in the remaining 13 constituencies, it will end at 1600 hours due to geographical considerations.
