TDP ministers quit NDA government over Andhra issue
New Delhi, Mar 8 (IBNS): Two Telegu Desam Party (TDP) ministers, Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Y.S. Chowdary, have quit the NDA government over the demands of a special status for Andhra Pradesh, media reports said.
The ministers' resignation came a day after the central government denied to grant a special status to the southeastern state.
While Raju held the civil aviation ministry, Chowdary was the Minister of State in for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences in the BJP-led central government.
Both the ministers resigned following their party leader N Chandrababu Naidu's order.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's discussion with Naidu over the matter on Thursday evening failed to melt the ice between the BJP and the TDP.
However, the TDP has not withdrawn its support from the NDA government yet.
Meanwhile, two BJP ministers in the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet in Andhra Pradesh resigned on Thursday hours after the TDP decided to pull out of the central government, which is run by the BJP-led NDA.
Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas and Endowments Minister P Manikyala Rao put in their papers after meeting the Chief Minister.
