Tamil Nadu government recalls 3 lakh text books which mentions Karunanidhi as CM

Chennai, June 20 (IBNS) The Tamil Nadu government has ordered to recall more than 3 lakh text books of class XI after the name of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief M Karunanidhi was listed as the state Chief Minister in its preface instead of J Jayalaithaa.

Reports said on Saturday that about  2.5 lakh class 11 economic texts books were recalled while 70,000 history books were withdrawn following a directive of the Education Ministry after the error was noticed.

Officials, however, claim that it is not a printing error sine the preface of the textbooks has not been changed since 2011.

The last time Karunanidhi was the state's chief minister was from 2006 to 2011 after which Jayalalitha came to power.

In 2014 Jayalalitha  was forced to step down  after being convicted of holding unaccounted cash and property. Her loyalist O Panneerselvam had taken over as the CM after she resigned from the post.owe

She, however, was sworn-in as CM once again in May this year-fifth time in her career- after  the Karnataka High Court acquitted her.
