Suspected militants kill Army officer in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 10 (IBNS): Suspected militants killed an army rank officer in Shopian district of South Kashmir, police said on Wednesday.

"A Lieutenant rank army officer, Umar Fayaz, resident of Kulgam was found dead near Hermain area of Kulgam town early morning today," police said.

He was reportedly kidnapped and killed, said reports.

Officials said the NDA qualified Umar was posted in Aknoor area of Jammu town and left for home to attend a marriage ceremony of his maternal uncle in Kulgam village.

The officer was commissioned in December 2016.
