New Delhi, Aug 7 (IBNS): Disturbed by the situation, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has directed the Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan to seek consular access to an Indian prisoner, who has been attacked thrice inside the Peshawar Jail.

The Indian victim identified as Hamid Ansari is detained in the Peshawar Jail since 2012.

Swaraj tweeted: "I am very much disturbed to read about repeated attacks on Hamid Ansari who is detained in Peshawar jail since 2012. It is inhuman."

"Have asked our High Commissioner in Pakistan to seek Consular access to Hamid Ansari in hospital/Jail and report," she posted.

Ansari, a resident of Mumbai, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by a military court in Pakistan, after he was held for possessing a fake Pakistani identity card.
