Supreme Court transfers Assam NRC coordinator to Madhya Pradesh
New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI): The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Central and Assam government to send Assam State NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela on inter-cadre deputation to Madhya Pradesh.
The interim direction was passed by a bench of the Apex Court, headed by Chief Justice of India CJI Ranjan Gogoi.
Gogoi, however, did not mention the cause or reason for his transfer.
At the hearing, Attorney General K K Venugopal asked Gogoi if there was a reason for the transfer, to which the CJI responded, "Is there a transfer without a reason?". But he refused to divulge it.
The top court said the matter will come up for further hearing on NRC related issues on Nov 26.
