New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will hear Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dr Subramanian Swamy's plea that the Ram Setu be recognised as a national heritage monument on Mar 9.

Ram Setu or Rama's Bridge, also known as Adam's Bridge, is a chain of nature limestone shoals between Pamban island or Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu and Mannar Island off Sri Lanka.

A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice N V Ramana sought the government's stand after Dr Swamy mentioned that “it (Ram Setu case) has been long pending”.

"We will list the matter for hearing on March 9," Ramana said.

The other two judges in the Bench were A S Bopanna and Hima Kohli. Dr Swamy had filed the petition before the Supreme Court in 2018.
