New Delhi, Nov 7 (IBNS): The Supreme Court (SC) will hear a plea on Tuesday about the worsening pollution level in the national capital and adjoining areas, according to media reports.

The national capital region is under a thick layer of smog and people have been complaining of irritated eyes, throats and lungs.

Delhi and its surrounding areas have been facing extreme air pollution for over a week, which has recently worsened so much so that many schools had to declare holidays.

Schools in Delhi have been shut down till Wednesday as the city struggles withe one of the worst spells of air pollution -anywhere in the world - in recent years, reported NDTV.

The apex court has asked lawyers representing the Centre and the Delhi government along with officials of civic bodies to be present at the hearing, according to media reports.

It will also take into consideration whether its earlier orders in fighting pollution has been followed or not, media reported.
