Supreme Court dismisses Hindu outfit's plea to allow Muslim women into mosques

New Delhi, July 9 (IBNS): The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition by a Hindu religious outfit seeking an order to permit Muslim women to enter mosques and ban the burqa.

"Let a Muslim woman come and challenge it. Then we will consider," a bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said, according to reports.

Petitioner Swamy Dattatreya Sai Swaroop Nath, the Kerala President of Akhila Bharatha Hindu Mahasabha, had challenged a Kerala High Court order dismissing his plea.

"The denial of entry to Muslim women in masjid for prayers with men is the denial of justice to them and deprives them of their right to equality which is a disgrace to modern society," the petitioner had claimed.
