Kolkata/IBNS: A suicide attempt during the peak office hours partially affected Kolkata's north-south metro services on Thursday, reports said.

According to reports, a nearly 25-year-old girl jumped in front of a metro rake in the down line of Gitanjali station in southern Kolkata's Naktala area at around 10:35 am.

Following the incident, metro authority had stopped trains in both lines while it was operating truncated services between Noapara and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar (Tollygunge) stations in both up and down directions.

A senior official of Kolkata Metro Rail said that metro staffers rescued the girl alive from the line at around 11 am. and after clearing the track, normal metro services in both directions were resumed at around 11:15 am.

The girl was rushed to a local hospital, reports said.
