Strike affects normal life in Assam

Guwahati, Oct 23 (IBNS): A day-long strike called by 46 agitating organisations have stalled normal life in Assam on Tuesday.

The organisations in the state are protesting against the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.

Shops and other  business establishments in many places, including in parts of Guwahati, the capital city, remained closed.

Transportation too took a hit as most bus owners decided against plying their trade.  

Tight security has been arranged across the state.

The strike has garnered support from several political outfit, including the Congress, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and AIUDF.
