Statements by Indian leadership deeply disappointing: Nawaz Sharif
Islamabad, June 11 (IBNS): Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday attacked India and said that statements by "Indian leadership had been deeply disappointing."
He also vowed to protect his country's "vital interests at all costs."
Addressing a meeting with UN Secretary General in Dushanbe, Sharif said, "As regards India, the Prime Minister said that there appeared to be no acknowledgement of the initiatives he had taken to promote a dialogue process with that country. In fact recent statements by the Indian leadership had been deeply disappointing."
The Prime Minister urged the UN Secretary General to play a proactive role in promoting peace and normalization in the region.
He stressed that it is incumbent on the UN Security Council to ensure early implementation of it's commitment as reflected in the Security Council's resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar earlier in the day said that Indian Army's operation in Myanmar to kill Northeast militants, responsible for Manipur ambush, "shows a change in mindset."
Without naming Pakistan directly, Parrikar said, "Those people who fear India's new posture are reacting."
Pakistan had warned India on Wednesday that it won't tolerate any such "misadventure" inside its territory.
"Pakistan is not Myanmar, and India should not think of repeating such an exercise inside Pakistani territory," Pakistan interior minister Nisar Ali Khan told mediapersons on Wednesday.
Indian armed forces on Tuesday undertook an operation inside Myanmar to kill Northeast insurgents following the Manipur ambush which left 18 soldier of 6 Dogra Regiment dead.
